Advantages And Disadvantages Of Developing A Business Brand, Logo Or Website In-House Or Using An Outsourcing Partner
When designing your business’ brand, logo or website or other marketing plans, you could consider two options. Outsourcing or having your own employees are the two options for the job to get done. Having the job done in house implies having your own employees to work on your brand, logo and the website. Outsourcing involves getting a third party who’s not involved in your business to do the designing. Outsourcing and in house designing of a website, brand or logo designing both have advantages and disadvantages. There is no clear-cut line on which is the most recommendable. In this case, the business owner should then consider the two depending on their circumstances.
When working on a business’ brand, logo or website can be formulated as a project. When designing in house a business owner has more control than when outsourcing. The directives on what needs to be done can be given by the owner. The owner can easily monitor the progress of the project. The owner benefits from having his staff give full focus to his work only unlike in outsourcing where there are many clients waiting to be served. The project can therefore be done faster. Any changes that may need to be done in the brand, the logo or the websites can be done faster in house. External parties do not know much about the culture, values and policies of your business. The business owner may be lucky to have employees with the required skills. The outsourcing partner could be coming from another country that uses a different language from the language of the business owner which could be a problem in communication.
By having in-house staff to work on this project, payroll costs may be high. It may be difficult to get employees with the required skills set for such a project. Smaller businesses and startups may struggle in their cash budget to be able to maintain experts. It is not cheap to train the replacement staff once the old experts leave. Due to the learning curve it will also take long for them to reach perfection.
Outsourcing may be cheaper than in-house stuff. With outsourcing, a business gets a wide range of skills in the project. However, the owner loses control of the project. The outsourcing partner has access to personal and confidential data. Unlike the in-house employees, the outsourcing partner is not well aware of the business’ culture and values. The periodic fees must be paid for the outsourcing partner to keep on the brand logo and maintain the website.
